Escalator

An escalator is a moving stairway that transports people between floors. It consists of motorized steps that rotate around two tracks, keeping the steps horizontal.

Escalators are widely used in places where elevators might be impractical or to complement them, such as in malls, airports, train stations, convention centers, hotels, arenas, and public buildings. They efficiently move large crowds without waiting, except in heavy traffic, and can be weatherproofed to guide visitors to key exits or displays.
